Rockin' Rock Canyon

Thee weather has been absolutely perfect lately, and to top it off, perfect Utah clouds. We grilled up some boogers at Rock Canyon Park, played in the river, and rolled down the hill. It was nice to get out of the house and see Utah's late spring beauty. Peace.

Growing Up

The doctor could hardly believe that Griffin weighed in at almost 8 lbs today. I was every bit as surprised! I think it took Jack at least two months to get to 8 lbs. Maybe I'll have a good little sleeper on my hands. Maybe Sophie will have competition!

Happy Birthday Dad! Happy Anniversary to you and mom too!

It's Dad's birthday! About a year ago he, Steve and I had two days of high adventure hiking in Zion and taking on the Subway. It was the best adventure of the year for me. My dad and I have had lots of fun adventures together. He has taught me so much and shown me so much. I was lucky enough to marry someone with some of the same attributes and my adventures continue!

ps Can you tell we're related in the second picture? I won't even post the picture of our similar white legs! :)
Okay...I will! Hee,hee...

Fish on!

Hailey needed Jack and I out of her hair for a while so we decided to go fishing. He assured me that he was going to 'catch a huge trout' and I was destined to catch "a little trout". He ended up catching two "huge trout" in twenty minutes and I ended up with nothing. After twenty minutes of fishing he decided that he had all the fun he needed so we did the hour drive back home. Anyway, here's the kid fighting his first Strawberry cutthroat-

In another life...

Jack dreams that he lives a pirate's life (and he probably is about as close to living it as anyone can, legally). My dreams might be a little more teenage. I want to be a rock star. Sadly, I cant play music or sing, just as Brad. Hopefully I'll have the chance to rock like Alan some other time.

Jack of Hearts

Jack is such an angel. He was having his picture taken with Griffin, he looked over and pulled me in. Look at his face! He may be a ferocious pirate, but he sure loves on me, Griff and Daddy.

The Errand of Angels

Steve and I can't believe how thoughtful everyone has been. Here are just some of the sweet gifts. Thanks to McKenna the newest "little" will be hip. The rolls are from our awesome neighbors and they even came with the recipe (if I get around to baking again..). The roses are from Erin and came with a hospital visit that meant so much to me. The pirate book is from Aunt Nila. The pirate sign arrived in the mail and I can't figure out who sent it...Come clean whoever you are! :) I wish I could include all the sweet things that everyone has done. We feel so loved and we're doing so well. Tender mercies just keep falling into our laps.

A Note From Mom

"The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new." -Rajneesh
(I borrowed this from Krister's Blog)

I think he'll look like Grandpa Christman Howell and I. He is so handsome. He has a great loud cry already. He is a fabulous little eater and he has ridiculously long fingers and toes. He's teeny tiny and he's named after two great men (perhaps three if you want to ask mom the history to Derek's name). We're tired and happy!

Poop and peep in the potty

No more diapers in the Leavitt house (at least until the new pirate comes). That's right, Jack has figured out the ins and outs of using the toilet. He's been in his new dinosaur underwear for the last week. Although we've been woken up by songs of "I've gotta go potty" at all hours of the night, these nights have been accident free. He's been just about as good during the day. We're proud of our Gravy, but it has actually been really sad to me to know how much he's changing.
