My new love
What's your favorite animal? I recently fell in love with this beauty. With all my heart I wish that Jack could have a pigmy hippo as a brother. I dream of them swimming together, watching movies together, sharing their snacks together, hiking, teasing each other, and just being best friends. Please, if anyone knows where I can get a baby pigmy hippo I need one.

Utah Lake Festival
There are many things I do not know. For example, Utah Lake has its own festival. Laney filled us in on the event and then she went and had her baby.
Saturday morning we got our coats on and partook of the lovely festivities. Jack got his face painted for the first time. He actually stood perfectly still and his eyes lit up when he saw his reflection in the mirror. Apparently the artist has talent, but no clue as to the difference between dinosaurs and dragons.
We munched free hot dogs and apples. Steve got a free shirt and Jack was busy throwing "mama and baby rocks" into the water. I love free events!

DON'T BUY OLYMPUS CAMERAS
*Sorry about this one, but it is my duty to our free market system.
So Hailey got a super stylish Olympus Stylus 820 camera for Christmas. There may not be a better looking digital camera. In addition to its great looks it has a ton of custom shooting modes hat really give the camera a lot of appeal. In spite of the bells and whistles, we immediately noticed that most of the pictures we took looked either really grainy or like they were taken in the late 60's. To make a long story short after a lot of experimenting, sending the camera in for repair, and too much time talking with customer service we have decided the camera is absolutely worthless and now sits in the drawer. We can't handle looking at horrible images of our travels and life. Because Olympus did nothing to stand behind their product I assured them that I would try to convince all within my very little realm of influence not to purchase Olympus digital cameras.
DO NOT BUY OLYMPUS CAMERAS. OLYMPUS IS BAD. POOR IMAGE QUALITY. INCONSISTENT PICTURES. THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS. OLYMPUS CAMERAS ARE BAD. OLYMPUS CAMERAS ARE BAD. Devil's Eye Arch
Although few are probably interested, I thought I would share one of the hidden treasures of the Wasatch with whoever checks out this blog. On the ridge line between Alpine and American Fork Canyon (following Preston Canyon on the Alpine side) there is an incredible natural arch called 'Devil's Eye Arch". The arch is actually visible from American Fork Canyon near Timp Cave. The views are amazing, the hike is invigorating, and the wildlife is incredible (we saw three mountain goats with two kids, a lot of deer, tons of cool birds, and hoards of sagebrush lizards). However, the 4000' trailless assent in two and a half miles is probably discourage for many (and the descent is bad enough that those who have made the climb vow not to do it again). Well, here are a few pictures and an invitation to all to give it a try (I'll be glad to show you how to get there on a map).
