All I wanted was Karoowia saxetia DNA sequences from Uruguay

I searched the world over (at least Uruguay) for this lichen, Karoowia saxeti, having never seen it. Well, I actually found it and the following is what I was after:

Brent wants to know what these sequences code for?

Woooow.

nothing better than bringing back a bunch of adenosine, guanine, cytosine and thymine as souveniers. Sweet.

Brent- this is the internal transcribed spacer(ITS) 1, 5.8s, and ITS2 of ribosomal DNA. They don't actually code for for any part of the ribosome, are cut out. They might have some structural importance in ribosome processing.

hmmmm... I'm having one of those moments when I wonder if I ever took a science class. Maybe once a LONG time ago. And I think I'm trying to block out the bad memory.

Glad to know someone knows what all that means!

Hey, while we're talking genomes, have you seen the Music Genome Project at Pandora. It's much better than it used to be.
