Big Shoes to Fill

Hahahaha! That is so corny. Well, despite recent concerns about Jack taking after me and dreaming of a career in interpretive dance, he still wants to do everything like daddy (yeah he likes my make-up and borrowing the blow dryer, but it pretty much ends there). Jack found Steve's church shoes. Those would be the shoes that Steve hates. In fact, he frequently accuses me of coercing him into buying the shoes. I'm sure I did. He only owns one pair. Anyway the picture and video speak for themselves. Walla! (That's for mom)

A Little Too Much About Me

It's a Little Different Tag

Tagged
A. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning.
B. Each player answers the questions about themselves.
C. At the end of the post, the player then tags 5 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.

10 years ago:

It was a Sunday and Amy (my sister) opened a can of peaches and cut herself. She had to have eight stitches. Man, my memory stinks, but I keep a great journal.

5 things on my to-do list today:

1. Wish I had a million dollars

2. Teach my students how to sit in their seats, stop picking their noses and treat each other kindly without tattling

3. Try out the tap dance class

4. Misc. errands with cranky Jack

5. Sign up for the Praxis II

Things I would do if I were suddenly made a a billionaire:

Own a home

2 of my bad habits:

1. Wasting time of the internet.

2. Bargain shopping

5 places I have lived:

1. Boise, Idaho 2. Kaysville, Utah 3. Edmonds, Washington 4. Spokane, Washington 5. Orem, Utah
5 Jobs I have had:

1. Tennis Club

2. Gap

3. Reading Tutor

4. Dance instructor

5. Third, First and now Second grade teacher

Things people don't know about me:

I'm secretly mean. Ask Steve. I regret many things about my wedding day, BUT never the man or the place. I love every type of food. I honk at people. Steve taught me that. I was Homecoming Queen. I HATE control top nylons. I'm not really short, I just look that way. I am addicted to the classifieds.

The people tagged are..... (drum roll please) Amy (sister), Rachael, Laney, Leisy and Erin

Back from Texas

Steve got home on Sunday from nearly a week in Texas. It was so lonely without Steve around. Thankfully Laney kept me company. One of the first nights without dad, Jack kept looking around the house, "hello, hello. hello?" Then he found the photo album of Steve's mission. He pointed to each picture, "da-da. daddy.." It was so sweet and so sad.

Anyone want to travel?

Both Hailey and I are feeling the itch to get out and see a little bit of the world. I'm anxious to head down to South American for a little adventura (yeah Taylor and Laney it's a lot like adventure. Way too easy.) in the Andes, sleep in noisy, cheap hotels that are filled with exhaust from the passing traffic, ride chicken buses, eat food cooked on mobile grills in the streets, and hike in the crazy Andean Highlands. Hailey on the other hand is looking for something a little more classy. She's mentioned she wants to go back to Paris, but I'm sure that someone could convince her to see Italy, Whales, or just about anywhere else in Europe. We are looking for sponsors and interested parties. Does anyone have any money that they would like to donate to our cause? Is anyone interested? Hailey and I would much rather travel together. So is anyone willing to watch Jack for a couple of weeks. I bet I could convince her to head south with me as long as we eliminate the dirty, cheap hotels and promise to buy her fresh fruit salads every morning and night. She might even convince me to go to Europe with her (some of the subways feel kind of dirty like the chicken buses in Guatemala). Well, any takers?

Back to School Can Be So Cruel

Oh yeah, so I shouldn't complain because I begged Steve to let me go back to teaching (1/2 day Jan-May), but it's just so hard not to! My class is crazy...twenty five second graders. At least ten students are receiving help through specialists and the other half probably should. I don't know why no one has offered me a "specialist." I'll probably need one soon. Honestly, I'm so grateful for the experience and I'm working for my level 2 license, which is huge to me. I should just keep teaching about diphtongs...

Mis hijas tienen miedo a solo verlo.

Tu siervo,

D-Rock

Dipthongs

Did you know that a dipthong is two sounds that slide together? Oi is one of our famous dipthongs and boy do my students love oi and all the words that showcase this famous dipthong. This is a little demonstration on my teaching tactics. It really works!

Our four year anniversary!

Hailey forgot to mention in any of her latest posts that now, as of 20 December, we have been married four years. It seems like four years is much too short to see the changes that have happened in our lives. Knowing what Hailey knows now I don't know if she would do it all over again if she had the chance, but I'm pretty sure that she loves me a lot more now then when we were first married, and that's because there's a whole lot more of me to love. We were looking at some pictures from the first year we were married and comparing them to more recent pictures. If Jackson had gained as much weight per month as my average increase he would be over 800 lbs! In short these four years have been good to us (me). Let's see what the next four bring.

Snowball Fight with D-Dawg

This shows a pretty intense scene from one of our last encounters with D-Dawg-a-loney, the Fantastic fairies and the Carver-nator. Continue viewing at your risk! It's a bumpy ride, apparently.

Christmas Catch-Up

It's a little sad to write about Christmas in January, but we actually stopped blogging for a bit. We enjoyed a Polar Express ride (thanks to the Hawes) and later a trip to Washington. Maybe Jack thought we were driving to the North Pole. It sure took awhile.
